“Excelso” is a grading term for coffee exported from Colombia, not related to variety or cupping profile. Excelso coffee beans are large, but slightly smaller than Supremo coffee beans. Colombian coffee is graded before shipment according to bean size. It is possible that Supremo and Excelso coffee beans are harvested from the same tree,
but they are sorted by it’s size.

EP (European Preparation) specifies that the raw beans are all hand sorted to remove any defective beans and foreign material.

Our washed Colombian beans are that of Colombia, Caturra and Tipica varieties and are sourced from small farm holders found mainly in the Medellin, Armenia and Manizales districts. The harvest period is October to December and after the harvest the coffee is process through an eco mill by each small farmer and then sent to the coop for drying on a patio.
