Kenya Peaberry Zawadi

Grown in the highlands of Central Kenya, like many peaberry coffees, PB Zawadi (Zawadi, meaning “Gift” in Kiswahili) is a rich, flavourful rarity. Our beans come from 6 primary co operatives whose average farm size is only 1- 2 acres.

Peaberry is different to the normal coffee bean in that the fruit (cherry) of the coffee plant contains two beans that develop with flattened facing sides, but sometimes only one of the two beans is fertilized, and the single seed develops with nothing to flatten it. This oval (or pea-shaped) bean is known as peaberry. Typically around 5% of all coffee beans harvested are classified as a peaberry.

Medium Roast

Kenya’s trademark taste is one of strong flavours, thanks in part to the fact that they are grown without shade. When brewed, this coffee’s taste is found to be crisp with forest fruits, sweet juicy and balanced. It has a citric and bright acidity.
