Ethiopia is not only the birthplace of coffee, but the largest producer of coffee in Africa. It also boasts the title of largest consumer in Africa, as well as the largest consumer globally for a producing nation (as a percentage of production) Ethiopia consumes almost 50% of all coffee it produces – only Brasil comes close to that figure. However this exotic nation produces some of the worlds most diverse and exquisite coffees.

Sidama region comprises many sub regions, all with their own distinct cup profiles and flavour nuances. It is very likely that in and around this region is where coffee had its origins. The Ethiopian Highlands coffee is grown more slowly and therefore has more time to absorb nutrients and develop more robust flavours based on the local climate and soil conditions.
